Interview with Banu and Lennart, two Dutch digital nomads

Let’s start with a small presentation; tell us something about yourself: where do you come from, how old are you and what do you do at the moment?

We’re Banu (27) and Lennart (26) from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. We work as freelance software- and webdevelopers from remote locations. We’ve been traveling for two months during the covid-pandemic and are planning on traveling through Asia but firstly starting off in Europe.

Why did you choose Cilento and specifically Acquavella?

After our first destination in a rather touristic environment (Vari, Greece) we wanted to go to a more secluded destination. When we found the house close to Acquavella in the midst of nature with a view of the ocean we were immediately excited. The host was extremely helpful during the booking experience, which gave us an even better feeling about our decision.

Tell us a little about how you carry out your work remotely in Acquavella, what is your typical day like?

On a typical day we alternate work and spending time in nature. Work happens mostly on the computer, which means we’re either developing software or are in calls with our clients.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in Acquavella for a remote worker?

The main struggle of working remotely is creating a proper working environment, especially the right office furniture. We try to mitigate this by bringing our own portable screens and keyboards. There are loads of advantages. The surroundings offer lots of experiences. For instance when we’re on a break we can go for a run or pick fruit from the trees. Furthermore, the locals are extremely friendly, helpful and open to guests.

Do you have a suggestion for foreigners who dream of working, studying and living here in the CIlento for a few months?

If you enjoy nature, this is a great place to live and work. A car would have been beneficial because most places are quite remote and public transportation is limited.
